BIOGRAPHYFather Christopher T. Mann was born and raised in South Philadelphia, where he lived for eighteen years. After graduating from Saint John Neumann High School in 1985, he served six years on active duty in the United States Marine Corps and was honorably discharged as a Sergeant in 1992. In 1995 he graduated with honors from California State University (Fullerton), where he earned a BA in Speech Communication (Rhetorical Studies) and a minor in Philosophy. He then worked for one year as the Assistant Director of Religious Education and Spiritual Development at Holy Family Parish in Brooklyn, NY. In 1996, Fr. Mann entered the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal (CFRs) in Bronx, NY (a.k.a. Fr. Sylvester Mary Mann, CFR). He completed his priestly formation (summa cum laude) at Saint Joseph’s Seminary (Dunwoodie), where he earned a Bachelors in Sacred Theology from the Angelicum in Rome and a Masters in Divinity from Saint Joseph’s Seminary. He was ordained by Edward Cardinal Egan on 17 May 2003 in Saint Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City. Besides leading retreats and parish missions and hands on work with the poor, Fr. Mann has served both as the Community Secretary and Director of Liturgy for the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal. He was also the Executive Director of Saint Anthony’s Residence for sixty-five formerly homeless men in the Bronx. He helped to establish new foreign missions in London, England; Bradford, England; Limerick, Ireland; and Derry, Northern Ireland. He also served as a missionary in Sudan, Africa. Fr. Mann joined the Diocese of Camden in 2011 and formally incardinated at the Chrism Mass in 2016. His parish ministries have focused mainly on adult faith formation; RCIA; sacramental preparation; youth ministry and the formation of altar servers, lectors and extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion. Since joining the Diocese of Camden, Fr. Mann has served as Chaplain to the Cape Regional Hospital, Parochial Vicar at Our Lady of the Angels in Cape May Court House, NJ, Holy Child Parish in Runnemede, NJ and Infant Jesus Parish in Woodbury Heights, NJ. Fr. Mann began his current assignment as Pastor of Christ the Redeemer Parish, Atco, NJ on July 1, 2017. |
