What is a Jubilee?

As the universal Church begins the Jubilee Year of 2025, Fr. Wallace will offer an introduction to the celebration of jubilee including its biblical background and history. Come learn the origin of jubilee and how you can enter more fully into this year’s sacred celebrations. All are welcome. Beautiful Things: Proclaiming the Gospel Through Art
Jim Dessicino

Jim Dessicino is the Parish Catechetical Leader at the Parish of Saint Monica, Atlantic City. He focuses on beauty as a source of catechesis in his work at the church and in his art. A revert to the faith after 20 years away as a cultural materialist, he has taken to restoring religious statuary and creating new public monuments and memorials. Dessicino taught at University of the Arts, Philadelphia, University of Delaware, Stockton University and Fleisher Art Memorial, Philadelphia. He is currently the Program Director for Rome Art Residencies. Dessicino received the Faith in Form Award from the AIA Interfaith Forum on Religion, Art and Architecture in 2016 with his friend and collaborator Eòin Burke. In 2015, Dessicino was an artist in residence at La Chateau de La Napoule in southern France. He worked as a studio assistant to Titus Kaphar from 2010 – 2012 and led tours of the Vatican Museums from 2007 – 2009.
In this talk, Jim will speak about a side altar at St. Nicholas of Tolentine in Atlantic City with sculptures by Joseph Sibbel, and explore the evangelizing power of beauty. All are welcome. RSVP not required, but appreciated to 856-767-0719 or Laurie.Power@christtheredeemer.us
